Getting Unstuck In Your Job Search

Do you immerse yourself in the job search process for a long time and yet get stuck in the process? Are you searching for jobs in job portals like a headless chicken?

Well, no matter how stuck you feel and how you insensibly you search the jobs, there is always a way to escape by following some tips.

Basically, the stages of a search are categorized into three parts and there is a possibility of you getting stuck in these stages:

  1. Getting started with the search itself.
  2. Application mode.
  3. Getting an interview.

Stage 1: Getting started with the search

Job portals are the boon in employment field as it connects job seekers to the employers. There are thousands of jobs listed on the board.  Sitting in front of the laptop for hours and hours, scrolling down the number of listed jobs will not land you a better opportunity. We usually have very bad habit of jumping into jobs that we find in our way. That is a silly and insensible act.

First of all, you should have the proper objective and mindset of what kind of job you want to do. Not only that, you should keep your qualifications and certifications in mind before searching for a job. You can’t wish to be a doctor with an engineering degree. So, have a clear goal, think what kind of job and what field you want to work on and search your preferred job in the right section.

Stage 2: Application mode

The next stage where you can get stuck in application mode. What if your career objectives are all clear- and you are not getting anywhere with your applications for it?

The possibilities might be that you are not putting enough applications. Search for related jobs, filter them according to your interest and forward your applications to all of them. If not one, there will still be hopes from ten others, so keep options while applying for jobs.

You might be forwarding many applications but not getting calls from the employers. There can be other possibilities of you not being able to put all of your content in your application. Take some time to complete your application, gather all relevant information about you and demonstrate you as an ideal candidate through your application. This will give the employer an insight into you and make them want to meet you and find more about you.

Stage 3: Getting an interview

You made it all through the stages and you made your way to the final one but aren’t getting the closing deal? Now that you are in the final stage and if you are stuck in how to present yourself in the interview, you need to work on your content and the way you deliver your contents to the employers.  Don’t tell irrelevant stories to the recruiters. Gather information about the company you are applying to, be confident and be presentable. Deliver all what you have and what you are being asked in a smart way because you belong to the interview place as you made your way yourself. Give a great closing performance.

So, next time you sit down to search for the job, act sensible and don’t stress out. Figure out your career objective, filter jobs, keep options and apply to the preferred jobs.
